Flat-branched Tree-clubmoss, Princess Pine, Common Tree-clubmoss

Family: Lycopodiaceae (Clubmoss family)

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: July - September

True to its common name, Flat-branched Tree-clubmoss stems have branches that also branch, and its leaves are typically horozontally flat, giving it a tree-like appearance. Unlike the superfically similar Crowsfoot (Diphasiastrum digitatum), Flat-branched Tree-clubmoss' rhizomes are deeper underground and, if lightly pulled, will not bring up multiple upshoots. It also typically has single strobili per stalk, as opposed to multiple in Crowsfoot.
