Family: Fabaceae

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: April - October

White Clover is native to Europe and central Asia and has been introduced as a forage crop worldwide. In the mid-Atlantic region it is commonly found in many grassy areas, especially lawns where mowers are typically set to cut higher than the leafy parts of the plant grow.

It typically is trifoliate (each leaf consisting of three leaflets), but infrequently has four leaflets, otherwise known as a 4-leaf clover (considered lucky if you find one).

Its flowers and leaves are reportedly edible, but are easier to digest after boiling.
