Canada Germander is a perennial that has inflorescences in 5–20 cm spikes which flower from the bottom up. Its flowers vary in color from purplish to pink to creamy. The flowers have large, shelf-like lower lips which serve as platforms for pollinating insects. Both its stamens and stigmas are well exerted from the flower corollas. The stamens are the first to mature, followed by the stigmas which are split in two at the end.
