Family: Fabaceae

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: August

Pagoda Tree is native to eastern Asia, mainly China, from where it was introduced into Japan. It is a popular ornamental tree that is not normally seen in the wild in the mid-Atlantic area.

Note its striking similarity to Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia). Pagoda Tree's leaflets are more pointed, and it blooms in late summer, not the spring like Black Locust.
