Family: Gentianaceae (Gentian family)

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: July - September

Rose Pink's genus name Sabatia is in honor of Liberato Sabbati, an 18th Italian botanist. Its species name angularis refers to its angled stem.

Note:  Despite its common name "pink" and its flower form resembling true pinks, Rose Pink (and other members of the genus Sabatia) is in the Gentian family (Gentianaceae), not in the Pink family (Caryophyllaceae). In particular, note that the pink petals are smooth, unlike true pinks' somewhat ragged ends to their sepals.
