Family: Ranunculaceae (Buttercup family)
Mid-Atlantic bloom time: March - June
Bristly Buttercup has bright yellow flowers, with the petals 1.5 times or more longer than its bristly sepals. The bases of the petals are green-streaked. Its larger leaves are mostly 3-foliate, with the leaflets about all the same size and sometimes further cleft or lobed. It grows in an erect form, typically reaching 1560 cm high on usually densely hairy stems.
Bristly Buttercup's species epithet 'hispidus' is from Latin, meaning 'densely hairy'.
