Family: Fagaceae (Beech family)

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: March - April
Mid-Atlantic fruit ripe: September - November

Willow Oak gets its common name because its narrow (linear to lanceolate) unlobed leaves resemble willow leaves. Its acorn's cups are shallow and saucer-shaped; they cover up to 1/2 of the nuts.
