Shingle Oak's leaves that are somewhat lance-shaped, have no lobes, and end in a short bristle tip. The leaves are dark green and shiny above, and autumn's brown leaves often persist through winter. Its acorn's cups are deeply saucer-shaped and cover up to 1/2 of the nut.
