American Mistletoe is our only native mistletoe. It is hemiparasitic, living in the branches of trees, especially maples and oaks. Its flowers are yellowish-green to green, borne on 15 cm spikes. Its spherical fruits are white to creamy and covered in a sticky substance that is toxic to humans. Birds readily eat the fruits and are the main vectors of seed transport.
