Family: Lamiaceae (Mint family)

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: July - October

Catnip's common name is from the intense attraction about many of cats have towards it, owing to the feline attractant nepetalactone it contains. That same chemical acts as a mild mosquito and fly repellant. Catnip is also used as an ingredient in some in herbal teas.
