Mid-Atlantic bloom time: June - September
American Lotus can be found occasionally in ponds, lakes, slow-moving streams, and freshwater tidal marshes. Its circular leaves are 3070 cm in diameter and usually raised out of the water. Its flowers are on peduncles that can reach 1 meter above the water. The flowers are pale yellow (looking almost white at a distance). Its acorn-like seeds are held in receptacles that can be 10 cm wide.
