Winged Monkeyflower, Sharp-wing Monkeyflower

Family: Phrymaceae (Lopseed family)

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: July - November

Winged Monkeyflower has sessile flowers (i.e., without peticels) and its leaves have 1-2.5 cm petioles (short leaf stems). Its main stem has 4 winged angles, which give it part of its common name 'winged'. The other part of the common name 'monkeyflower' it given because the flower is thought to resemble a monkey's face.
