Family: Asparagaceae (formerly Ruscaceae) (Asparagus family)

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: mid April - early June
Mid-Atlantic fruit ripe: August - October

Like other members of its genus Maianthemum, Solomon's Plume's inflorescence arises from the end of the stem, unlike the true Solomon's Seal genus Polygonatum in which the individual flowers droop from the leaf axils. In late summer, the seeds develop into various shades of conspicuous red clusters at the end of the stem.
