Ox-eye Daisy is a common non-native chrysanthemum that can be seen almost anywhere in the mid-Atlantic area. It is native to Europe and temperate regions of Asia.

The genus name Leucanthemum is from ancient Greek leukos, meaning 'white', and anthemon, meaning 'flower'; the Latin species name vulgare means 'common'.
