Family: Celastraceae (Bittersweet family)

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: June - July
Mid-Atlantic fruit ripe: September - December

Winter Creeper is native to east Asia, and is highly invasive in the United States, often causing the death of trees it grows around. Its leaves are opposite in pairs, with finely serrated margins. Its small (5 mm) flowers are greenish-yellow.
