Mid-Atlantic bloom time: June - September

The bright yellow petals of Plains Coreopsis usually have a deep maroon or brown basal spot, the same color as their multiflowered center.

Originally from mid-west America, it has been seeded throughout the mid-Atlantic as a garden or roadside flower, and has escaped successfully to the wild to be a common site in disturbed areas.
