Sensitive Partridge-pea's leaves are alternate, with leaflets having 7–20 pairs. The small yellow flower is 0.8–1cm across and has 5–8 stamens.
The closely related Partridge-pea (Chamaecrista fasciculata) has larger flowers and more stamens.
