Musk Thistle is a biennial, native to Eurasia, that frequents heavily disturbed soil and grazed areas. Its flower heads usually droop down to horizontal or slightly below. It has rather large green bracts (phyllaries) on its flower heads, usually tinged with purple, with prominent midveins.
