Family: Rosaceae (Rose family)
Mid-Atlantic bloom time: June - early July
Goat's Beard is dioecious (separate male and female plants), as its species epithet suggests. Plants with male flowers have numerous stamens per flower and produce a showy bloom in which the plume-like flower spikes almost look fuzzy from a distance. Plants with female flowers have three stamens per flower are less showy, with flower spikes looking somewhat sparse compared to their male counterparts.
