Family: Fabaceae (Legume (Pea) family)

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: July - September
Mid-Atlantic fruit ripe: August - October

Hog Peanut seems to like shady woodlands and wet areas. Twining its stem and 3-part leaves over large areas, it can look like an invasive, but it is a native species. Its flowers are pale lavender to white.

Hog Peanut's roots and seeds are puportedly edible.
