Family: Rosaceae (Rose family)

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: March - April

Unlike many other serviceberries, its sepals are only partially reflexed when in bloom. Its leaves have teeth only from their midpoint towards their tip, and are densely downy underneath.

Nantucket Serviceberry is a more northern species and is ranked as rare in the mid-Atlantic area. It has been found only along the Potomac River area along Mather Gorge in Maryland and Virginia, where it is listed as S1: "Critically Imperiled".
