Common Ragweed

Family: Asteraceae (Aster / Sunflower family)

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: August - November

Common Ragweed is native to North America, but has become invasive in other parts of the world. Its wind-blown pollen is highly allergenic, especially in people susceptible to hay fever. It has compound leaflets, which helps distinguish it from other ragweeds in our area. Common Ragweed's seeds persist into winter and are a good source of food for birds.
