Earleaf False Foxglove is a somewhat rare hemiparasitic plant. It has purple flowers grow opposite each other on a flowering stalk, with two smaller upper lobes which are more united than the three lower ones. Its opposite leaves have a clasping auricle, or ear, from which the species derives its scientific and common name.

It is ranked as globally vulnerable (G3) and is listed as critically imperiled (S1) in Virginia, Arkansas, and Alabama.
