Johnson Grass is native to the Mediterranean area and is thought to have been introduced to the United States in the early 1800s. A tall perennial that grows quickly, it can quickly choke out grain crops and is resistant to glyphosate. Consequently, it is considered by farmers to be a highly noxious weed.
