Family: Poaceae (Grass family)
Mid-Atlantic bloom time:
Small Carpetgrass is sometimes confused (especially before flowering) with Japanese Stiltgrass (Microstegium vimineum) and Wavyleaf Basketgrass (Oplismenus undulatifolius). Small Carpetgrass has distinctly cordate-clasping leaves, which Japanese Stiltgrass lacks. Also, while the leaves of Wavyleaf Basketgrasss may superficially appear to be cordate-clasping, they are not, plus they are more undulate.
