Family: Thelypteridaceae (Marsh Fern family)
Mid-Atlantic bloom time: May - August
New York fern is distinctive in having its pinnae tapering eaually to both the base of the frond and to the tip, thus "burning the candle at both ends". It tolerates low pH (acidic) soils and can come to dominate in such areas.
